• The Orange County African-American Historical Society seeks to explore the contributions of African-Americans to the the cultural and historical heritage of Orange County.
• The James Madison Museum is the nation's first museum dedicated to the memory of James Madison. It also features exhibits detailing the history of Orange County. The museum's Hall of Agriculture houses the 1733 Arjalon Price House (one of the oldest patent or "cube" houses in the county).
• Montpelier was the life-long home of James Madison. The main house was later enlarged by the William duPont, Sr. family. After Mr. duPont's death, his daughter Marion duPont Scott, an internationally respected horsewoman, took over the property.
• The Exchange Hotel Civil War Museum, located in nearby Gordonsville. This wonderful museum is housed in the Gordonsville Exchange Hotel, which shortly after it opened was converted into a military hospital. The Hotel was used as a hospital during almost the entire Civil War. The Museum now houses a collection of Civil War artifacts and hosts periodic reenactments of Civil War surgery.
• The Orange County VaGenWeb Page contains much valuable information for genealogist and others interested in Orange County.
• The Memorial Foundation of Germanna Colonies, Inc. is dedicated to preserving the memory and studying the genealogy of the German colonists who came to work for Alexander Spotswood at Germanna.
• The Central Virginia Genealogical Association is an organization for genealogical researchers in the Charlottesville area, including Orange.
• The Library of Virginia and the Virginia Historical Society are important places to visit when researching any aspect of Virginia History.
