The Orange County Historical Society, Inc. is a research, archival, and educational organization dedicated to the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of the history of Orange County, Virginia, of its people, and the surrounding area. The Society's reference library contains over 2,000 volumes, and there are over 1,300 files with information on families, historic buildings, events and sites, plus a map and photograph collection.
In addition to its newsletter, the Society publishes books and pamphlets. Regular membership meetings include presentations on subjects of interest to the membership and are generally held on the last Monday of each month (excluding February and December). Members also receive special rates on book sales, copying fees, etc. To become a member please go to the ABOUT US page on this site.

We will NOT be open on the third Sunday of the month until further notice.

REGULAR HOURS RESUME
As of Monday, March 1, 2021, the Orange County Historical Society has resumed its regular hours of operation.
The Society will be open Monday - Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., except holidays.
The usual safety protocols will be observed.
We hope to see you again one day soon.
In accordance with our Governor, and in order to keep our guests and our staff safe, we ask our visitors to observe certain protocols, which apply to our staff as well. In addition, we are applying a variety of sanitary procedures. Please see the COVID-19 tab for detailed information on our procedures and protocols. We are observing the mandate for wearing masks and social distancing. We also recommend making an appointment before coming.
Unfortunately, in-person Programs will be cancelled until further notice.
They will resume when we can gather safely.
On a happier note, the Historical Society created a YouTube channel, called History-to-Go. We now have six offerings, with the newest -- A Brief History of Orange County -- premiering the afternoon of January 24, 2021.
