OCHS Research Assistant Ruth Mallory Long (left) and former historical society three-term board member Frieda Willey show off two Clore Furniture rocking chairs that Willey recently donated to the society.
Willey was befriended by Long on her first day as a special ed teacher at Orange County High
School, where she taught for 16 years. Willey, who just turned 88 years old, hails from southwest Virginia, the birthplace of country music.
She remembers listening to Ralph and Carter Stanley playing bluegrass from the back of a
flatbed truck. Meanwhile, Clore Furniture was the subject of a History-to-Go episode last year.
