OCHS Receives $10,000 Legacy From John Trimmer

A native of Orange County, who died at the age of 95 this past January, left $10,000 in his will to the Orange County Historical Society. A grateful OCHS president Ray Ezell said the money

will be used to make a down payment on vital roof repairs at the research center.

John LeBas Trimmer was born July 21, 1929, at Hare Forest in Orange County. A graduate of the University of Virginia, he served his country as a Naval Aviator in the South Pacific during the Korean War.

Later, he became the Business Manager and Associate Headmaster of the Blue Ridge School in Dyke, VA, retiring in 1990 after almost three decades of service. On hearing this news, longtime OCHS Board member Bill Speiden suggested that other society members, and even

non-members, follow Trimmer’s lead and include the Historical Society in their wills as well.
