Hello Society Members,
There is a special program that I'd like you to be a part of on Tuesday, June 11th at 6pm. The 36th Observance of the birthday of General and Gov. James L . Kemper will be held on the grounds of Walnut Hills (Kemper's former home).
Our hosts, Michael and Amy Malloy (present owners), continue to support this historic event which is masterfully conducted by the Kemper-Fry-Strother Camp 19, SCV.

This year, the program will begin in the shady front lawn of the plantation house (please bring chairs). Refreshments will be served and you may bring your picnic supper if you desire. The speaker will be Harold R. Woodward, Jr., one of the founders of the Kemper-Fry-Strother Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp and author of "The Confederacy's Forgotten Son: Major General James Lawson Kemper, C.S.A., and Governor of Virginia." As well, members of the 7th Virginia Regiment of the Richardson Guards will be present to honor the General and Governor with a 21-gun salute. The program will highlight Kemper's accomplishments and present information about his house.
Following the presentation, we will walk to the family cemetery for the conclusion of the program and ceremony. Those who cannot walk may drive. Please observe the signage for directions on where to park.
Thank you
